Art Today, Anup Vega

Born in 1967 in Kurunagala, Sri Lanka Anup Vega is a largely a self-taught artist. A very skillful painter he have had number of exhibitions in Sri Lanka. In 1997 he held a solo exhibition at the Hermitage Gallery, Colombo and 1998 his artwork was shown in the Mountcastle Gallery, Colombo. His exhibition titled ‘ Seed pod’ was held at the Gallery 706 in 2000 while he have had solo exhibitions in 2001 at Mountcastle Gallery and in 2002 at the Barefoot Gallery. Paradise Road Galleries presented Anup Vega’s exhibition ‘Remaining Apart’ in 2003. As an art critic Prof. S. B. Dissanayake comments on Anup Vega’s art: “He makes the quotidian contentment’s of life communicable through the uncomplicated simplicity of his art”.

Anup Vega lives and work in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
