Born in 1971 to a family,
known to have a close affinity with the arts, Druvinka grew up amidst
her father’s creative efforts of drawing and painting. An
ambition to become a professional painter was an idea she toyed
with since very early in life. As soon as she completed her high
school education in Colombo, Druvinka unhesitatingly and ambitiously
started pursuing her goal by joining the well-known art school founded
by Rabindranath Tagor, the Santinikethan in India for her art education.
From 1990 to 1995, she spent there where her teachers were the famous
contemporary Indian painters. She returned to Sri Lanka in 1995
with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a thorough knowledge of painting
techniques. The personal style she developed to channel her conceptual
and thematic preferences was a witness to her grasp of the technique
and compositional knowledge in organizing her creative act. Since
1990, Druvinka has had several solo exhibitions as well as group
shows in Colombo.
At present she lives and work in India.
