Gayan Sathyajith Karunarathne
was born in Kalutara, Sri Lanka in 1970. He completed the Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in
1998 and continued training in ceramics at the Ceramic Centre at
Dediyawela. He followed a training course in ceramic kiln and firing
technology in Japan during 2001/ 2002. Since his return from Japan
he has worked as the ceramic instructor at the Department of Industries,
Small Industries and Textile Industries in the Western Province,
Sri Lanka. At present he teaches at the Vibhavi Academy of Fine
Arts and holds the position of visiting lecturer at the Department
of Architecture, University of Moratuwa. He has had number of group
and solo exhibitions in Sri Lanka.
