Art Today, Harsha Samarasinghe
Harsha Samarasinghe was born in Colombo in 1971. She received her education at Kiriwattuduwa Maha Vidyalaya and Lumbini College in Colombo. She had her art education at the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Kelaniya where she obtained a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997.

Her first solo exhibition titled “Boots” was held at the Heritage Gallery, Colombo in 1997. She has participated in many group shows held in Sri Lanka. Among these are the 1989 “Lumbini Students” exhibition of paintings held at the National Art Gallery and the Young Contemporaries exhibitions of 1994, 1995 and 1996. She was also invited to participate in the “Nawa Kalakaruwo” exhibition organized by the George Keyt Foundation at the National Art Gallery in 1996 and 1997. Her work was also included in the painting exhibition “Pitaweema” at the same venue in 1997. She was among the artists who exhibited their work at “Directions”, an exhibition organized to commemorate 50 years of Sri Lankan independence held at the Mount Castle Art Gallery, Colombo. Her work included in many art competitions has won awards of merit.
