Art Today, Noeline Fernando
 

Noeline Fernando is an active artist and art teacher who is based in Colombo. She joined Cora Abraham’s art classes in 1965 and studied painting, batik and ceramics. She has had the guidance of artists such as Richard Gabriel, Laki Senanayake and S. Narasingan. She has also worked with sculptor Tissa Ranasinghe on a number of projects when he was the principal of the College of Fine Arts.

Noeline Fernando was one of the fifteen artists selected to exhibit in the exhibition ‘Ceylon: A Painters’ Isle’ held at Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada in 1967. Her work has also been exhibited at the Batik and Design Exhibition at Septieme Biennale de Paris, Samudra Gallery and the 72nd Annual Art Exhibition.

As a member of the ‘Young Artists’ Group’ which was founded in 1957, Noeline Fernando has exhibited regularly in their group exhibitions. At present, in addition to her own work, she is actively engaged in providing an art education to children.
