Art Today, Tamara Jayasooriya

Tamara Jayasuriya was born in 1966 in Negambo. Before the start of her art education, she was engaged in the field of science where she obtained a B Sc. Degree from the Institute of Technology in Massachusetts, USA. After completing her degree, she changed her focus to painting. She received her art education from the Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts, Sri Lanka. She graduated in 1999 with a diploma and has several group shows to her credit. She had a joint exhibition at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery in 1995, and in 1997, took part in the Annual Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts Show at the National Art Gallery. She was invited to participate in the First International Artists’ Camp held in Kandalama, Sri Lanka in 1997, and the subsequent exhibition at the National Art Gallery and Alliance Francise de Kandy. In addition, She has taken part in a number of group exhibitions.
