The Barefoot Gallery consists of exhibition space (2 halls) and a garden café.

It operates as a commercial venture. It has become a popular venue for exhibitions which in recent times have accommodated important and innovative exhibitions such as ‘Made in IAS’, a exhibition of artworks from the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, Sri Lanka. They also hold the ‘World Press Photo’, an international travelling exhibition of the best international press photos.

It has also given its garden space for experimental English theatre productions.
