T. P. G. Amerajeewa was born in 1972 at Galle. He had his education
at Tissamaharama Ikkapallama Viduhala, Uhana Udayagiri Maha Vidyalaya
and Ampara Gamini Maha Vidyalaya. He obtained his art education
from the Institute of Aesthetic Studies at the University of Kelaniya
where he graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2000.
His most recent works focuses on the ‘war and violence
and how the society has absorbed and transformed its humanscape’.
“My work finds its theme in the contemporary Sri Lankan
political and social situation. For nearly twenty years Sri Lanka
has been experiencing an armed conflict that is being identified
as ethnic conflict, freedom struggle, terrorism etc. It is also
a conflict for the ownership of a particular geographical territory.
Whatever one chooses to call it, the reality is that there are
mass deaths and violence, refugees, victims of war being created
